Just so that everyone is aware:
We will be moving the site to a new server this weekend. It will be up and down for a while. If you come here and the site is down, I promise to have is back up and running before the next election.
Thanks for your support and patience,

So things are moving forward tonight. I will make a backup of the site databases around 5:00 PM 02/13/09. Anything posted in the next 12 hours or so after that may not transfer over. See everyone on the other side........

How do I upload some photos from my hike?
What size, etc. should they be?
Thank you for this service you do!

In the upper right hand corner of the full sized photo you'll the following choices:
[resize photo][delete photo][photo properties]
[print this photo on Shutterfly][help?]
choose the action you want and it's done. _________________ John Richardson and Richie Rich, El Perro de Playero

Ooops, I just don't see the actual location to upload photos. Is it somewhere within the gallery? And should they be a certain size or MB? Or do I just copy and paste the photo into a forum discussion? (I did read the help in the gallery section)

Hi MerMuser
I have adjusted your gallery permissions so you should now be able to post albums/pictures.
When you enter the gallery, take a look on the right side of the toolbar under 'Welcome MerMuser', you will see an add album link. Once you add an album, you should see other links in about the same location for adding pictures, editing properties, setting viewing permissions, etc.
A good picture size is roughly 1024x768. That will allow most users to fit it on their monitors without scrolling. Will take less server space too. It's your option for picture sizes. The upload process takes a little finesse, but I'm sure you will figure it out.
Give it a go, it's fairly self-explanatory after that. Play around with it and give a shout if you still run into issues or have questions. You can always delete what you have posted if it doesn't turn out just right the first time. |

The gallery comes up quicker than it used to for me. And the whole thing is quicker.
While we're on the topic of photos, I should mention I'd sure like to have an avatar again. Dang. Took my old one off, tried to put it back on again after I realized I have no idea how to re-size a photo so it will be the right number of pixels. The old one seems to have disappeared, and the one I wanted to put up there is too big. I tried re-sizing it, to no avail. I just don't have a clue.
So what else is new? |
