Anybody else see the Global Extreme Mt. Everest 4Runners to Adventure on OLN? I've caught the three episodes so far...was wondering if anybody else has seen it... _________________ -Colin

No--what have you thought? Have you enjoyed it? Would you recommend catching it or no?

I tell ya...it's entertaining...if you like the coverage of the Eco-Challenges (I do), then you'd enjoy the show/series. I'd rather watch people doing these type of things than playing baseball, but I'm a geek.
OLN also had a similar show called No Boundaries (sponsored by Ford)...same premise, smaller scale...more drama.
The Global Extreme show culminates with the 5 remaining athletes taking a shot at Everest...this is the aspect that intrigues me...the climbing community is also interested in how they fair....
Stay tuned till May... _________________ -Colin

What ever happened with this? _________________ "In the first place you can't see anything from a car; you've got to get out of the goddamned contraption and walk, better yet crawl, on hands and knees...When traces of blood begin to mark your trail you'll see something, maybe."

Two of them actually summited Everest. It was televised and was an awesome look at what is really going on up there. _________________ Seize from every moment its unique novelty and do not prepare your joys

Cool, I wish I would have seen it! Even though so many people do Everest these days, because I could never climb it, the aura of it will always capture my imagination. _________________ "In the first place you can't see anything from a car; you've got to get out of the goddamned contraption and walk, better yet crawl, on hands and knees...When traces of blood begin to mark your trail you'll see something, maybe."

I think only one camera man hung on till the very end. It has been a while since I saw it but I believe one turned back. The landscape was very rugged of course. I think they said it was the first time the summit climb was ever filmed or maybe it was the entire climb. In any case you saw how they took a few steps and then had to just hang on and try to breath. Everyone had thick technical clothes of cours and a full face oxygen mask. The cameras from down lower showed these little specks traveling across the snow fields.
The filming made it look extremely hard and it lasts for a long time in those conditions. They were shown just waiting in the cramped tents, everything. It was an intense look. _________________ Seize from every moment its unique novelty and do not prepare your joys
