Strider was hit and killed by a truck yesterday in Idaho. We were at a rest stop and he spotted some dogs and decided he had to go after them. He was out the motorhome door before I realized it and ran into the path of a big rig and was killed instantly. He finally found a forever home after eight years and then this had to happen to him. At least the last few months of his life were happy and he was loved. I miss him, and his forever home is now in my heart. _________________ John Richardson and Richie Rich, El Perro de Playero

When the Man waked up he said, "What is Wild Dog doing here?" And the Woman said, "His name is not Wild Dog anymore, but the First Friend, because he will be our friend for always and always and always. Take him with you when you go hunting."

The last few months of his life were the best, without doubt. I am so sorry to hear about this. I know how much you love your dogs.
Just remember, he is in a better place than any of us mere mortals can provide. And he will be waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge......
Rest In Peace Strider, we will all miss you! _________________ Steve |

I am sorry Hooli, I know he meant a lot to you. He surely is in a better place. _________________ "In the first place you can't see anything from a car; you've got to get out of the goddamned contraption and walk, better yet crawl, on hands and knees...When traces of blood begin to mark your trail you'll see something, maybe."

Seems we both suffered a loss this weekend.

Sorry to hear about that Hooli.
It was Strider's time. Glad he was able to find someone like you to live out his last days with. |

I'm so sorry to hear this. It's never easy losing one of your "best friends" who was more like family I'm sure. As the saying goes, All good dogs go to heaven, he'll be there waiting for you. (so you better behave now hooli just a bit of humor to ease your sorrow) I hope you are/were able to enjoy the last part of your trip, he'd want that for you.
Hugs,

Bad weekend.
My thoughts are with you too. Hopefully he's playing with Samantha Lynn in a big grassy field along a creek somewhere. _________________

I am sorry Hooli. You were the best thing that could have happened to Strider here in our earthly home. Take solace in the fact that his last months were happy ones and that he did not suffer. God bless you both. _________________ ~~~Diane~~~

Hooli,
I know how it feels. Back in '91 my first German shepherd was hit by a car. She was killed instantly. The shepherd that replaced her died of cancer July 28. Hopefully you have a lot of pictures and video of Strider... it helps.
