----- SCOTTSDALE UPDATE -----
========================================
TRAFFIC ALERT: FREEWAY QUIETING PROJECT TO CONTINUE; DETOURS NECESSARY THIS WEEKEND
The Arizona Department of Transportation will close portions of the Loop 101 freeway between University Drive in Tempe and the 90th Street exit in Scottsdale this week to continue preparations for installing rubberized asphalt.
ADOT will work overnight Friday evening to Saturday morning, Jan. 16 - 17, then all day Sunday, Jan. 18, to prepare the concrete surface for the noise-dampening material, which will be applied this spring.
Although detour routes will be well marked, motorists are advised to find alternative routes during the closure times listed below:
* Northbound 101 from University to Indian School -- ADOT will close the northbound side of the Loop 101 Freeway starting at 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, from the Loop 202 Freeway to Indian School Road until no later than noon Saturday, Jan. 17.
Northbound Loop 101 freeway traffic will be detoured at the University Drive exit in Tempe. During this closure, all northbound freeway ramps from University Drive to Indian School Road will be closed. The detour route is University Drive to Hayden Road (McClintock Drive in Tempe), northbound to Indian School, then east returning to the Loop 101. Congestion and delays are expected along the detour route. Drivers should consider using Scottsdale Road or State Route 51 (SR51) as an alternate route.
* Northbound 101 from Indian School to 90th Street -- Beginning at midnight Saturday, Jan. 17, and continuing through about 4 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, the northbound side of the freeway will be closed from Indian School Road to 90th Street. Northbound freeway traffic will be detoured at the Indian School Road exit. During this closure, all northbound freeway ramps from Indian School Road to 90th Street will be closed. The detour route is northbound Pima Road between Indian School Road and 90th Street. Congestion and delays are expected along the detour route. Drivers should consider using Hayden Road or SR51 as an alternate route.
